Automatic doors hold many advantages.  You save electricity because the climate inside the building is maintained more effortlessly by the air conditioning system when the doors are mostly closed.  They also afford you the facility of granting access remotely to authorised people only.  You may disable the doors in order to keep them open or closed temporarily.  Lastly, they grant easier access for disabled people, because they do not need to operate the door. Give Entraway a call today to find out what would be the best automatic door solution for your entrance. If you are an architect, we will help you by offering the best solution for your client.

Automatic doors

Automatic doors can be triggered in several ways, but usually by a active infra red sensor that detects traffic approaching. Sensors for automatic doors are generally:

  • A pressure sensor – e.g., a floor mat which reacts to the pressure of someone standing on it.
  • An infrared curtain or beam that shines invisible infra red light from sensors; if someone or something blocks the beam the door is triggered open.
  • A motion sensor that uses low-power microwave radar for the same effect.
  • A remote sensor (e.g. based on infrared or radio waves) can be triggered by a portable remote control, or is installed inside a vehicle. These are popular for garage doors.
  • A switch that is operated manually, perhaps after security checks by a guard. This can be a push button switch or a swipe card.

Automatic doors are essential for climate control and useful for the safe passage and entrance for the disabled.
